Quilled Heart

This is one of the gifts we gave to my niece, Rachel, for her wedding.

I loved this quote (thanks pinterest!) and thought this Quilled Heart would add a special touch.

Quilled Heart How To:

I cut strips of paper in 1/4"x8".

Take the paper and wind it around the tool. They have quilling tools but you could use a paint brush end, pen, pencil. . .

Use a pattern to guide you. . .

Glue the end. After this
one I figured out that the hot glue gun worked faster and better.

Put dabs of white glue (that will dry clear) on the bottom of the coiled paper.

Place the quilled coils onto your board to form the shape.

I did this one also.

Computer Subway Art

My brilliant daughter (who is in 7th grade) came home with this computer site idea from her teacher. It was so fun I had to do some playing around for Valentine's Day.

I love the look of Subway Art.
On this site the amount of times you write the word will determine the size of the word. For example: I wrote "love" 7x and "candy" 2x. After you write the words you can go in and change the font and color.

So FUN with all the possibilities!! Now I just have to frame it.

GIVE THANKS Subway Art

I Love how this turned out. I might just leave this out all year long! What a great item to remember to Give Thanks all the time.

My How To:

I used 5 inch wood letters. I just cut out my letters with some left over bead board wood.

The board measures 11"x20".

After the letters are glued on with some wood glue, spray paint the whole board dark brown.

When the paint is dry, sand the edges and lightly sand the top of the board & letters. I sanded just enough to get it smooth for the vinyl. I like how the 2 different types of wood gave me the look I was going for.

Adhere the "subway" vinyl of "thanks". [If you would like to order this vinyl its $7.00 with $2.00 shipping. Email me with your request: loverde@cableone.net] Pin It

Family {Picture} Wall

I love Pictures(as I'm sure everyone does)! This wall piece(magnetic sheet metal) is great to showcase our Family Pictures. If we go on a trip or just have a professional one taken I want to be able to put it up. I like that its so easily changeable. {But I do try to keep it just for the pictures with the "whole" family.} It is fun to see the ones with the kids little & then now to see how they have grown.

I just screwed the sheet onto the wall(you could put it on some wood if you so desire) & used some plastic picture holders (found at Walmart) with magnets on the back. So Simple! Pin It

Saying/Quote Board

A while back I used up some left over molding to put this saying above our family picture.

I just painted it black and then "aged" it with some walnut stain. Then added a 1x2 for the top ledge. I love that you could put this board idea anywhere in your home. So Simple! Pin It

{Remembering} Loved Ones

My friend, Megan asked me to make this for her neighbor. The neighbor lost both of her parents within a year from each other. So this neighbor could remember her loved ones, Megan wanted something to place pictures but also be functional. So I came up with this and it turned out so cute!

1-Copy all the pictures into black & white {these are so wonderfully timeless}.

2-Cut picket fence boards (4"X42") in 1/2. I didn't want to buy extra boards so I used the pattern from the top of the board for the bottom half that didn't have a design. I cut it using my scroll saw.

3-I used my nail gun to attach the red board(5"x24") to the fence boards (each measures 21" long). I then sprayed them with a clear spray so the top coat of paint doesn't soak into the wood. This wood is very porus.

4-Paint the fence boards and sand the edges.

5-Attach coat hooks onto the red board. Coil (using a dowel) wire around fence boards to hold the pictures. Pin It

Eye Catching Headboard

My friend Katie asked me to decorate her Master Bedroom Headboard Wall and I jumped at the opportunity. I love doing Design. Its fun to create a space that is uniquely yours. She had ideas of a focal point with different woods and branches with birds. So I designed the wood art piece, built it and painted (along with Katie) the branches with the love birds. It looks so Wonderful, I just had to share.

I put their initials to make it more "theirs".

{Our} Family Motto

We love our Family Motto Board because we came up with it together. We each took our beginning initial {the funny thing is that it actually spells something} and decided what it would stand for and what we wanted to aspire to. President Hinckley's "Be's" were a great inspiration. I know this will unite our family because we have the same goal to be. . . . . . Worthy, Humble, Artistic, Athletic, Achieving, and Teachable.

1-I first spray painted the board Black then Cream. Then I used the negative of a vinyl piece as my template.

2-Then I sprayed painted the lettering with Dark Brown.

3-I sanded the whole thing down to give it that "aged" look (even over the lettering). Pin It
