Altered Frame

A Great picture to go in a Great Frame!

My mom gave me this bag full of buttons. 

They've been sitting on my craft room floor for. . .awhile. I didn't know what to do with them until today. 

I got this frame from the second hand store(only $1.00).

Take the wooden buttons and hot glue them to the frame. I didn't really do any pattern.

Spray paint the whole frame(I used the "Hammered" one).

Add the rhinestones to the middles to hide the button holes.

 A finished Frame that I hope is "Target Store" worthy!

My BSU Spirit

Go BOISE State Broncos!

We do some concessions(selling pretzels & funnel cakes) at the BSU stadium. Tonight is another home game. Along with my painted fingernails, I made some things to wear to show my football spirit.

Ribbon Beaded Necklace.

I am using almost 3/4"  inch wooden beads(I found at the second hand store) to thread onto the ribbon(72" long).

 Put 1 wooden bead( I only did it on the orange ribbon cause the blue was too thick) then tie a knot. Thread bead. Tie knot.  Continue this process till it is the length you desire. Mine ended up being 28"  inches round.

Scripture Tote Makeover

When my daughter turned 8 we got her new scriptures and a scripture tote in her favorite color, green. It was kind of plain and not real girly-looking, so I got a pretty pin with her initial and some bling to try and it up a bit. It wasn't quite right by itself, so I found some grossgrain ribbon that matched perfectly to add.

I used floral wire to hold the 2-piece bow together, hot glued the little pearl strands over the center, Fray Checked the ends of the ribbon tails, then hot glued the bow onto the scripture tote. I attached the pin and got glued the clasp shut. Done! My daughter was pleased with the finished product, and I was grateful that it was quick and easy.

{Head Band} Holder

I started selling headbands at our local restaurant The Creperie. I needed something to put them on so this is what I came up with.


I cut a 2x4 (15" in length) and a 2x6 (15 1/2" long). At the base, glue them together. For added strength you could use either brad nails or screws.


Spray paint it black and sand the edges for an aged look.


Cut the tubes (Home Depot-4 1/4" in diameter) to 13 1/2" in length & drill 2 holes.


Cover the tube with fabric using Mod Podge Glue.


Use zip ties to adhere the tube to the 2x4.


Thread some fabric strips thru the holes.


Tie the fabric over the zip ties.

Easy Heart Wreath

I finally made a craft! It's been a while, since I'm now a working mom. But I needed something new for my front door for Valentine's month! So I created a simple heart-shaped wreath from 3/4 yard of fabric and 2 old wire hangers. Wanna make one?

Here's what you'll need:
-2 wire hangers
-3 (1/4 yard pieces) of fabric in coordinating colors
-Heavy-duty wire cutter/plyers
-Sewing scissors or rotary cutter

Preparing the Wire Heart:

1. "Un-twist" the hangers to pull them apart. (I did not need the plyers for this.) Squeeze the curved "hanger" part into an oval shape, so it can be used to hang the wreath! (This will be at the top/center of the heart.)
2. Cut one of the hangers in half with the heavy-duty plyers. (You only need 1 1/2 hangers for this project.)
3. Using the heavy-duty plyers, twist the 1 1/2 hangers together (with their already twisted parts).
4. Connect the ends at the top/center of the heart with plyers. (This will require some "elbow grease".)
5. Bend at the opposite end to make the bottom tip of the heart, then shape the rest of it into desired heart-shape.

Preparing the Fabric Strips:
1. Cut each of the three 1/4 yard (9") fabric pieces in half length-wise (which will leave you with 6 strips that measure 4 1/2 x 44").
2. Double up the fabric strips (or more depending on the quality of your scissors or rotary cutter) and cut about 1" strips all the way down. (You will end up with tons of little strips measuring about 1" x 4 1/2 ".)
3. Organize the strips into their own 3 groups.

Putting it Together:
1. Turn on a good chick-flick movie and get cumfy.
2. Tightly tie on all the little fabric strips to the wire heart in your desired pattern. (You do not have to tie a double knot.)
3. You're done! Hang up your wreath and show it off!! (In fact, take a pic and show me too!)

Containing the {Glitter}

I was emptying some spice containers & before I threw them away, I realized they would make perfect GLITTER containers. Recycling is Great.


I used these 1/2 size spice containers.


I covered the outside with scrapbook paper of what color glitter it will hold (I love the shaker holes in the lid).


I sprayed painted the lids black. I think they look a little bit better. What'd ya think?

Helpful Beading Tools

I was helping my friend Cristi get ready for our craft day at church. She brought up this tip, so I had to share.


Since she hasn't made the investment yet on this bead tray{which in my book is a must have}.


She mentioned that felt fabric would help the beads not roll around everywhere.


The thought then came to my mind that you could use a piece of molding as the bead tray. The groove is where you would place the beads before stringing them.

Kids Craft Closet

I am one of the art moms in my daughters 4th grade class. As I was looking in the supply closet it felt so peaceful I think because it was organized! I knew I had to do something with the kids' craft closet at home. I was inspired!

My New Old Rags

My grandpa taught me a great trick to get the most wear out of a piece of clothing. When that clothing item is either too small, ripped or stained use it as a Paint Rag.


Before I gave some of the girls' clothes to the second hand store, I went through them to see if there was any I could keep. I found a great pile.

This sure beats spending more money on new ones{plus they have style}! Pin It

I love how the Ocean tumbled these rocks flat & smooth. They are all so unique.


I made these necklaces. . . [glue the back clasp & shells with E6000 then spray with SATIN clear coat]

{Summer Time} Idea Container

Now that our kids are out of school we can have some Summer Time Fun.

Even though we will have the lazy days of summer, we still need some consistency. I'm going to refer back to the the schedule I made last year but add the twist of more outdoor games. I want us to enjoy the beauty of the sun & nature.


We bought this container(at a local restaurant supply store) for our concession business but haven't had a need for it lately so I'm putting it to good use. The lid is labeled with the days of the week(with stickers).


I thought it would be fun to have ideas for each day (except Sunday) where we could play different types of games. The idea categories. . .
Monday- Games with Round objects (balls/balloons & beanbags)
Tuesday- Games with water

Wednesday- Games with recycled items
Thursday- Games in nature (park/birdfeeders,etc...)
Friday- Games with a race
Saturday- Games on the sidewalk(chalk) & flashlight games

I will try to post any of these game ideas I do but most of them come from Family Fun Magazine.

End of School Gifts {2011}

Our kids get out of school this week-Ya!
At the end of the school year I like to do an extra nice gift for the teachers to show my appreciation for teaching our children. This year I used stuff I already had at home.

Binder Clips:

I just covered these with fabric using Mod Podge.
