{JOY} Door Wreath

I had lots of extra supplies around the house for this project.
Here Goes. . .
I started with a 10 inch stitching hoop.
Tie on 7 inch strips. Alternate knotting the tie-one on the side then the next one on the top and so forth.
Go around until finished.

I cut some  9 inch letters for the "J" & "Y".
I spray painted an extra wooden hanger to match the red letters.
Tie the hoop and the letters onto the hanger.
Its ready to hang on the door.

Fall Door Wreath

My Fall Door Wreath.
{I love how it looks like turkey feathers}

I used a green floral wire wreath frame to tie onto with the burlap strips( 1/4"x8'). The burlap is very messy. [I had to change clothes and vacuum afterwards].

Conference Door Sign

I made this cute Conference Sign to hang on our door this weekend for General Conference.
I just bought a frame(2"x3") at the second hand store($0.50), painted it & drilled holes for the ribbon.

You can go here to print one.

"Broken Up" {Heart}

I finally finished this project just in time to use for next years Valentine's Day. Yes, its been one of those month's.

My friend, Keva, is the one who inspired me with this idea. She asked me to cut out a heart (18" tall x 9" wide)for her that was cut up to put on a board (19" long x 9 1/4" wide)so she could hang it on her front door.
Keva's Finished Heart:

Heather's Finished Heart:

I mod podged different papers on it and sanded the edges for the aged look.

I brad nailed the wood molding pieces to "hinge" the other heart pieces together.

To hang it, I cut an 1"x20" piece of fabric. Sew together and fray the edges by pulling it thru your hand.

{St. Patrick's Day} Wreath

I found a mini wreath idea in the Family Fun Magazine (2009) & realized that it would be a cute Door Wreath to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

I had some green sweaters(you could purchase some at the second hand store) to cut up into 3"x3" squares.

Use pliers to pull apart the "neck" of a clothes wire hanger.

Fold the suqares into triangles & thread them onto the hanger. [To fill the whole hanger I only used 3 sweaters.]

Close the hanger by reattaching the "neck". Now its ready to hang.

We are LUCKY to have such cute door "beauties" to welcome in Friends & Family.

Cozy Wreath

I was about to give these sweaters a new home to the second hand store & realized the sleeves would work great for this Valentine's Day Wreath.

Start with this foam wreath(12 inches)

1-Cut through the foam wreath

2-Cut all the sleeves (& cuffs) off of the sweaters.

3-Its so cute, now I want to wear this as a sweater vest (I just need to sew the cut edges)

4-Place 1 sleeve with the right side facing inside the other sleeve that is wrong side facing & sew.

5-Keep doing this until it forms a long "tube".

6-After turning the tube inside out, inch the sweater sleeve tube onto the foam wreath. Apply a dab of glue to adhere the ends together. (I used 2 inch painters tape to hold it together while the glue dries).

7-Whip stitch the open ends together.

8-On the back side apply a few dabs of glue & straight pins to hold the sweater tube in place.

Ready to hang!

Ang's Birthday Wreath II

And here is my new BIRTHDAY WREATH! I've had the stuff to do this one for YEARS!! But I just never got around to it. I'm actually glad for that, because my friend Cami H, just made hers recently and used a STYRAFOAM wreath for hers (instead of straw). I found this wreath at Hobby Lobby...

Same instructions that Heather gave, using the floral pins (100 ct for $1 at Walmart), curly ribbon, and tons of balloons- (about 200+)
* While shopping around looking for the best deal on balloons, I finally came across (in Boise, ID anyway) packages of 25 same-color balloons for $1 at Honks dollar store (better deal than Zurchers!). They had lots of different colors to choose from. And this way you can control the variety of the different colors! *

I found this cute "Happy Birthday" sign in the scrapbook section of Hobby Lobby, added some Glamour Dust (any craft store) and mounted it on red cardstock. (Then I glued & taped a couple of floral pins onto the back of the sign to stick onto the wreath.

I also hot-glued a little silver clip so I can attach the birthday child's name. (Also found at Hobby Lobby- cute gift tags in the birthday section.)

Ang's Birthday Wreath I

I made this birthday wreath several years ago when I was really into wood crafts and toll painting, and I use it on every birthday in my family. Next post, I will show you my new one! Stay tuned!! Pin It

Turning {4}

Our little boy turned {4} today so to celebrate we went to IHOP for breakfast.

And I always put out our Birthday Wreath on the front door so everyone else knows also. (I got this wonderful idea from Carlene Tanner-its one of her familys' tradition)

1-Straw type wreath.

2-Take "U" shape foral pins. Put the balloon in about 1/2 way. . .

3-And poke it in! I didn't put all the pins the same way, I crisscrossed them as I went around the wreath. This wreath has over 1000 balloons. Good thing for "bulk" packaging.

4-You can add some other finishing touches by adding picks and streamer ribbon.

I love putting this wreath out but I think eventually I will make one for inside the house. I love looking at it-its so birthday festive!

*Update: There is also another way to make this wreath! (Angela's version HERE) Pin It
