Love Languages
Have you read this book, The Five Love Languages? I know it has saved and/or strengthened millions of marriages, including several of my personal friends'. Though I have not yet read the book (because I'm not a huge book reader), I have still learned what my love language is as well as my husband and children's.
The author, Dr. Gary Chapman has written several other relationship-strengthening books as well, that are based on the five love languages. Click here if you would like to take a 30 second quiz to discover your love language.
I hereby challenge all of us to assess and find out yours and your husband's (and/or children's) love languages this week, then make a stronger effort to find ways to communicate to them by using their language. Then let's see what happens to our marriages and family relationships by the weekend!
Hi, My name is Staci. I began checking out your blog around Christmas time (linked off another blog). I finally am commenting now. I highly suggest reading this book. I learned so much about myself, my husband, my kids, and my own childhood with my parents. I shared my love language with my parents and it helped them understand me. A must read in my book. Lots of therapist suggest it too.
ReplyDeleteI love this book! My husband and I are complete opposites, and his language is my dead last. Why does it work that way? lol Anyway, it also gives you ideas of how to speak someone else's love language, in case it doesn't come naturally to you. That has been the most helpful for me! Will be fun to hear everyone's reports!
ReplyDeleteOh, and for children, until around age 8 they speak all the love languages, or all love languages speak to them. Just a thought from the book to help with kids' languages. =D
I have read this book and our Sunday School class did the study. I give it 2 thumbs up. It really helps you understand your family and helps you with relationships at work, your family, and friends. Don't hesitate, run out and get it. A friend of mine gives it to couples contemplating marriage.
ReplyDeleteI love this book! It is an easy read and if you are not a big reader get the audio book. It is certainly worth the time investment. The book about kids is great too. Enjoy!
