{Wrapping Up} for a Wedding Idea#2

My friend's daughter is getting married today. I love how their Wedding Gift turned out!

I made this gift with wood slats and sanded the paint to give the "aged" look.

I LOVE this quote and I love to personalize items.

The top box is filled with dinner napkins so I used that for the vinyl name.

I added a fabric strip garland with my scraps(on jute string) then attached a wooden "T"(got for 20 cents at Michaels) then "aged" the edges with my stamp pad.

{CTR} Conference Pillow

To add to our special General Conference weekend I wanted the kids to be comfortable and cozy(hopefully not so much that they fall asleep).
I decided to make pillow cases (& blankets) to be used only for Conference. [This was an investment but luckily I hit a great sale at Joann Fabric 1/2 off fleece sale].

HOW TO:

First cut out the "CTR" letters[mine are 6" wide x 9" tall] to sew onto the front fleece piece. I cut them out of t-shirt material found at the second hand store.

FRONT SIDE: cut a piece of red/blue & yellow fleece(21"x 10.5"). Stitch each letter onto the coordinating color. Then sew the panels together with a 1/2" seam.

Cut a pillowcase(from the second hand store, only $1.00) in half. For the front & back. Cut another piece of fleece for the backside. This one will match the blanket(21" x 30").

Pin & sew the "paneled"(=the front) piece and the "matching blanket" piece(=the backside) to each side of the cut pillowcase.

Face right sides together, stitch around the end casing then stitch the other 3 sides to close the pillowcase up.

Each pillowcase will have a NEW matching blanket. Sew the edge of the blanket(60"x 70"). I might stitch their names on the blankets like I did here.

Other fun things to add to our Conference tote:
The DAY BEFORE:

They get these M&M's the Friday before so they can prepare their mind.

We go food shopping so they can use these fun trays(I got these at Pottery Barn 5+ ago but I think Walmart has some).

CONFERENCE DAY:

New Fuzzy Socks(found at Target) with a poem.

Paper packets here & here with a new pen(found at Michael's for $1.00).

Our memory game.

BINGO cards(different ones for spring & fall) using their favorite candy.

All of our Conference items are kept in a tote (thanks Cami!) ready for April & October.

Re"Newed" Tray Table

I needed a little table to use while sitting in front of the TV relaxing (after the kids go to bed) for working on projects. I found one in the pile to go to the second hand store from one of our daughters. I decided to pull it out and give it a NEW life.

Before . . . .

I sanded it down, spray painted it black then gray.

Then I cut a piece of leftover fabric to Mod Podge in the middle.

Aulina's "Computer"

Our 3rd daughter has such a great imagination.
She loves to "pretend" with sock rice dolls, legos and even that she has a real Computer. She wanted me to make her one. So this is what I came up with, with the leftovers in my wood shed.

Her "Apple" Computer. {just 2 pieces of wood 15" x 12" ans 2 hinges}

The inside (she said she'll use a piece of paper as the "screen" so it can change).

{Bead} Containers

Walmart does it again. I love using a product because its good then use the container for another use.

Walmart has these great dressings in a square bottle.

I RECYCLED the container to use for my bead storage.
Now I just have to keep eating my salads-only 10 more to go. . .

St. Patrick's Day Napkin Holder

I knew I could figure out a project to make with the stash of shower curtain rings I found at the second hand store. I thought these
Napkin Rings would be fun to use for our special St. Patrick's Day meals.

Supplies: strips of green fabrics(about 10" in length) & shower curtain rings (second hand store or Dollar store).

Start tying the fabric strips (double knot) randomly around the ring.

Take the fabric and put it between your thumb and the blade of the scissors. Push down enough that the fabric will curl like ribbon.

Done all the way around.

Stitched Flower

When I was in Utah a little bit ago I went to this cute Quilting shop I visit every time I'm there. They had this
Stitched Flower pinned on a dress. They didn't have a pattern to buy so I had to make my own.

I cut a 3 1/2" flower template out of chipboard (you could use cardstock). Cut a piece of fabric(fleece or cotton) big enough for the flower template and sandwich a piece of batting("Warm & Natural Needled Cotton Batting")in between the fabric layers. Using the template cut the fabric flower.

Stitch around the flower with coordinating thread.

Stitch a "gathering" stitch(with this cool tip) down the strip of fabric(1/2" x 20").

Take the gathered fabric strip and stitch regularly into a coil in the middle of the flower.

The frayed coiled fabric strip in the middle.

Add some embellishments in the center of the flower such as buttons & rhinestones. Now its Ready to Wear!

{Head Band} Holder

I started selling headbands at our local restaurant The Creperie. I needed something to put them on so this is what I came up with.

I cut a 2x4 (15" in length) and a 2x6 (15 1/2" long). At the base, glue them together. For added strength you could use either brad nails or screws.

Spray paint it black and sand the edges for an aged look.

Cut the tubes (Home Depot-4 1/4" in diameter) to 13 1/2" in length & drill 2 holes.

Cover the tube with fabric using Mod Podge Glue.

Use zip ties to adhere the tube to the 2x4.

Thread some fabric strips thru the holes.

Tie the fabric over the zip ties.

Head Band Ready!
